Our First Broken Bone (1st of many I'm afraid!)

Well, it was bound to happen sooner than later with all of these boys, I guess we were lucky to make it 7 1/2 years with no broken bones. Tonight we were at my Mom's for pumpkin carving and Jack, Luke and Cole were playing in Bubba's room. Jack was jumping from the bed to the chin up bar that is attached to the ceiling and lost his grip and fell on his right arm. Amy happened to walk in right after the accident and quickly sent Luke up to Bryan and I to say it did not look good. There was absolutely no question that the poor thing had just broken his arm, I have never heard a child howl like he did.

Everyone sprung into action and Grammy, Bryan and Jack and I headed to Johnson Memorial while Amy and Emily (poor thing look what she's marrying into!) took the rest of the kids to Amy's to finish carving. Papa was so kind to pick the kids up at Amy's and bring them home for us and put them to bed. Thanks everyone for all of your help. We really appreciate it!

The damage....
...I apologize if you can't stomach this kind of stuff, it didn't look good at all.
He was such a good boy! He was amazing, once we got in the doctor gave him a percocet and he was good to go! All that really happened tonight was that they confirmed the break with an X-Ray (which we all knew, including the doctor before the x-ray) and they wrapped him up and told him to keep it in the sling until we see the ortho on Monday to have it set, I'm thinking that won't be pretty. However the PA we saw did say that it is not near his growth plates and that he should heal fine and it's one of the better breaks you can have, as if any are good. He was such a trooper and is still hanging in great at home, he loved the wheel chair ride by the way! I will keep you all posted as we move into the cast, he wants Uncle Aaron to be the first to sign it so he can draw him a cool picture!

What a brave little guy! Henry and I certainly enjoyed our sleep over with Reed and we were happy to help. I bet Cole can't wait to color on the cast!
